The most commonly reported obstacle was the lack of strategy execution skills, with 27% of respondents indicating this as a challenge. This suggests that managers struggle to translate strategy into action and achieve the desired outcomes.
The second most commonly reported obstacle was the lack of emotional intelligence skills, with 19% of respondents identifying this as a challenge. Emotional intelligence is crucial for effective leadership, particularly in a high-performance environment where stress and pressure can be intense. Other significant obstacles included poor change management skills (15%), lack of focus and prioritization, and time management skills (14%). These obstacles suggest that managers struggle to adapt to change, manage their time effectively, and prioritize tasks appropriately. Interestingly, only a small number of respondents reported obstacles such as poor feedback skills (3%) and poor coaching skills (3%), suggesting that managers may be more confident in these areas than in others.
Overall, the data suggests that managers in a high-performance environment face a range of obstacles when it comes to developing their leadership skills, particularly in areas such as strategy execution, emotional intelligence, and change management.
